In response to the recent nationwide flooding of various communities in Nigeria, Lay Faithful Trust Foundation, with the generous support of Nigerian Christians, conducted relief distributions to help victims of the flood at the four cardinal points of the country –
North, East, West, and South.
The distribution of relief materials took place at the following locations:
- North 1: Adamawa State (3 locations: Goron, Ngbakawo, Ngodo Goron, Lamurde LGA)
- North 2: Taraba State (2 locations: Bandawa, Karim Lamido LGA, and Kunini, Lau LGA)
- East: Anambra State (3 locations: Onitsha West - Umuikwu-Anam, Innoma, and Mmiata-Anam)
- West: Lagos State (3 locations: New Oko Oba, Agege; Itesiwaju Community, Agege; & Isale Aboru community, Alimosho LGA)
- South: Bayelsa State (3 locations: Azikoro town, Yenegoa; Ovom, Yenegoa; Elebele, Ogbia LGA)
Items distributed at the various locations include Rice, Noodles, Garri, Soap, Vegetable Oil, Biscuits, Cash gifts, Sanitary towels, spaghetti, Maggi, and salt,
The relief distribution to the flood victims demonstrates some points:
1. Nigerian Christians are generous and are willing to help in genuine cases of distress
2. It is imperative that the Church should cooperate to build a central purse to respond to emergency situations affecting Christians. There are problems that affect Christians in general that a single denomination or ministry is unable to handle.
