RELIEF DISTRIBUTION AT:
MANGU, PLATEAU STATE
Thursday 24th August 2023
Mangu LGA of Plateau state was a relatively peaceful area until Fulani militia unleashed wave after wave of attacks on the Christian community. The unprovoked attacks started in May 2023 resulting in the brutal killing of unarmed men, women, and children.
According to local reports, Fulani militia orchestrated the attacks across different communities in the LGA. The killings were brutal and merciless. Over 100 people were killed in Mangu while 32,383 were reportedly displaced.
The ferocity of the attacks led government to impose curfew in the area. A peace meeting was convened in Jos, for three Local Government areas, to stem the tide of the rising wave of violence. According to credible local reports, some non state actors within the community did not honour the invitation to the peace meeting.
As of the time Lay Faithful Trust Foundation visited Mangu, some of the displaced persons were in seven IDP camps as follows:
1. Pilot Science Primary School Camp, Bungha
2. Rabwak Fan Camp
3. COCIN Church Compound
4. COCIN Rampiya
5. COCIN RCC Bwai
6. Salama Baptist Church, Mangu
7. COCIN RCC Halle
The immediate needs of the brethren include the following:
1. Food Stuff
2. Medical Supplies
3. Mattresses
4. Children’s Foot Wears
During the relief distribution, the following food items were distributed by Lay Faithful Trust Foundation to the IDPs:
▪️Rice
▪️Beans
▪️Palm oil
▪️Maggi
▪️Salt
We thank all the donors who made the relief distribution possible. God bless you and increase you on every side. We thank Bro. Raymond and Pastor Yussuf for executing the relief distribution. God bless you all.
There is a lot of needs amongst the Christian IDPs. We pray for more resources to minister effectively to the persecuted brethren.
As we thank our current donors, we appeal for more Christians to support the ministry to persecuted Christians. The word of God commands us to support our brethren in distress and affliction. In addition, if Christians undergoing afflictions are not supported and reinforced, the attackers will be emboldened to attack more Christians. The persecuted brethren must not be left vulnerable.
Thank you for your support and God bless you.
Your brother in Christ,
Bosun
