RELIEF DISTRIBUTION TO IDPs Maiduguri, Borno State – Phase 3

Lay Faithful Trust Foundation conducted phase 3 of its food and clothes relief distribution to IDP camps in Maiduguri. Due to funding constraints, all the eight IDP camps in Maiduguri could not be ministered to at the same time. Therefore, an arrangement was made to visit the camps in phases.

The third phase of the relief distribution covered Gedo 1, Gedo 2, and Holy Trinity & C.A.C. IDP camps. We delivered food and clothes to the persecuted brethren. At the same time, fifty-two widows received cash gifts of N5,000 each. In all, 554 families received food support.

Presently, there are eight IDP camps within the Maiduguri metropolis, and they are as follows:

• CAN Centre
• DCC Shuari
• Shagari low-cost
• Cherubim IDP camp
• Celestial Church IDP camp
• Gedo 1
• Gedo 2
• Holy Trinity & C.A.C. IDP camp

Through the generosity of the brethren, the Lay Faithful Trust Foundation has ministered to all eight IDP camps. In 2025, LFTF shall commence another round of support for the persecuted brethren while we explore possibilities of getting them resettled back on their ancestral lands.

In the meantime, Boko Haram has renewed attacks on Chibok. There have been five reported attacks on Chibok in January 2025. Relief support shall be extended to Chibok and other areas in Southern Borno.

EDUCATION SUPPORT

In addition to providing food, clothes, and cash support, Lay Faithful is paying the school fees of some IDP children in Maiduguri. The academic support covers children in primary and secondary schools, the Polytechnic, and a University. We pray for more resources to help more of the IDP children.

The provision of school fees commenced in January 2025.
